My name is Sarah Baeumler and I am thrilled to be this season’s guest blogger for all things fashion and design. I am excited to give readers an inside look at the latest trends as well as some of my favourite styles and looks. I was given the opportunity to work alongside some incredible designers while filming HGTV’s House of Bryan series. I loved every minute of it and am grateful to have learned so much from their experience and expertise.
Bryan and I are back at it again! This time building and renovating two investment properties on a new series called Bryan Inc. that will begin airing Fall 2016. When away from the cameras you will find me at a computer sharing my current inspirations including décor, fashion, travel and parenting on my daily blog website sarahbaeumler.com.
We’re seeing lots of lacing this season both in clothing and footwear, lace-up boots being at the top of this trend. Gladiator boots are here to stay and are a very popular choice for both summer and fall. Ankle-high booties continue to remain popular this season and there are many styles incorporating the lace-up look. I like to try and add a variety of different materials and colours when it comes to my fall boots. Dark camels, rich browns and of course, a classic black, are all staples for your fall shoe collection.
No woman’s closet is complete without the presence of an amazing statement piece. Lately I’ve noticed the trend of bold skirts making a comeback, especially those incorporating pleats. Pleats are being showcased in a variety of looks this fall season, one of the more popular ones being skirts and dresses. Pleated skirts are great to pair with a light, seasonal sweater as it complements the overall look of the outfit and makes the skirt really stand out.
If you’re interested in more of an evening look, try adding a chic leather jacket and some booties to finish your outfit off. Mixed hues from deep burgundy to warm charcoal are excellent choices for fall, as are dark tans and navy blues. Another fall staple for your wardrobe are some lace items.
Lace, although more prevalent in 2015, is still being shown on runways for 2016 and is one of my personal favourites. Elegant and feminine, lace can be worn in a variety of different styles from skirts to blouses. No longer restricted to evening wear and formal dress, lace looks beautiful when layered with velvet and paired with structured suits. If your aiming for a more casual look, try a lace top with floral bottoms.
Various shades of blues were at the forefront for all major fashion weeks around the world including ice blue, cobalt and navy. Warm, autumn tones such as burnt oranges and mustard yellows are also making an appearance in clothing and accessories. Metallic silvers and cool greys are definitely at the forefront of evening wear and formal pieces.
This look is no longer strictly for the workplace. The modern spin on classic pantsuits is all about trying different styles and colours.
Not only are pantsuits now more tailored to flatter your body shape, there are an assortment of cuts and fits for every body.
A straight leg cut that reaches just above the ankle is very popular paired with a slim fitting jacket. Pin striped patterns are very on trend, and you can never go wrong with a classic solid colour such as navy blue or grey.
Trends are all about experimenting and having fun with fashion. Whether it is the stunning décor in your home, or the classic outfits you pull together day after day, have fun with colours and textures and embrace all that makes you feel fabulous!
