Reset Your Mind and Body for Spring

Spring is here. As the days warm up and we move away from dark winter months, it’s a great time to refresh routines, re-evaluate goals, and reset mentally and physically. But a spring refresh doesn’t have to be complicated. In fact, making a few smalls tweaks in your day-to-day plans can be all you need to step into spring feeling refreshed and energized.

Get more sunlight

One of the easiest ways to take five and reset is to get outside and enjoy the fresh air and sunlight. Spring brings longer days, warmer temperatures, and the first signs of growth returning after winter. Make time for short walks around the neighbourhood, visit a local park or trail, and consider sitting outside when grabbing a coffee or bite to eat. Not only can this help boost your energy levels and mood, but natural light can also help to regulate your circadian rhythm which can lead to improved sleep and mental clarity.

Move your body gently

It can be tough to stay active in the winter and once signs of spring appear, many people feel pressure to jump into intense workouts and ambitious fitness regimens. While there’s nothing wrong with high-intensity activity, focusing on gentle, consistent movement can be a more sustainable way to stay active.

Activities like yoga, stretching, walking, and even gentle cycling are great ways to reawaken muscles and improve circulation. Remember, not every workout needs to be an attempt at a personal record. Simply make time to move your body in a way you enjoy and reap the benefits like reduced stress and boosts of endorphins.

Declutter your space

Spring also means spring cleaning, but this isn’t just about tidying up—it’s about creating a calm environment. When you space is clean and organized, it can help you stay focused and feel more at ease. Try starting small: clear off the counter, organize a drawer or two, or try and find five items you can sell, donate, or regift.

Refresh your daily routine

Winter routines often revolve around comfort—sleeping in, staying inside, and slowing down activity levels. As daylight increases, it’s a good time to gradually shift your schedule. Try waking up a little earlier to take advantage of the natural light. Even ten extra minutes in the morning can help you feel more grounded and prepared for the day. Consider adding a short walk, stretching session, or dedicating a few minutes to unplug and read or journal before diving into work or responsibilities.

Much of the beauty of spring is that it signals new opportunities and change. Reset, refocus, and make a few small adjustments to get outside, move your body, declutter your space, and welcome spring with a renewed sense of energy.
