So when I want to get the whole family to unplug and engage, I call everyone in for family game night. I mean, really, what better way to get my family sitting in one room, with no devices in hand and actually paying attention to one another!
Over to the hall closet I go (you know the one with all the odds and sods) this is where the games are kept. Depending on the mood that night I may pull out a classic like Monopoly, Scrabble or Yahtzee, or if we are all feeling like blowing off some steam and are ready for a good laugh…it’s to Twister we go!
Every now and then I visit the friendly folks at Mastermind Toys where they fill me in on the latest board games and family game night ideas. Most recently I purchased Codenames, where you work as a team and give one-word clues to try to get someone to identify your agents among those on the table!
And believe it or not Bingo is a big hit these days with all ages, and has become one of my family’s favorites.
Yes, this is my happy place…watching my family together, laughing and enjoying each other’s company. Add a bowl of popcorn and it just doesn’t get any better!
