Are we being encouraged to eat yummy food from the comfort of our own homes? We’re here for it! A national initiative has been launched in Canada to help out the food industry that’s been under hard times due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Wednesday, April 15 is the first weekly #TakeoutDay designed to inspire Canadians to order from our fave local restaurants to enjoy delirious food with the added bonus of helping to support businesses who are struggling. The website CanadaTakeout.com has more information on this initiative, and there you will also find an invitation to take part in Canada’s Great Kitchen Party – Home Edition, live on Facebook each Wednesday at 5:00 PM PST. Joining the party are some familiar Canadian faces, such as Olympic Gold Medalist, Tessa Virtue and the Great Big Sea’s Alan Doyle.
For our part, we’ve compiled a list of restaurants who have stayed open during these difficult times, to continue to serve the community. Most have delivery options via partner apps such as Skip the Dishes, Tutti or Door Dash, but all are open for walk-in, takeout service.
