Self Care Starts Here

When’s the last time you did something just for you? Making time to take care of yourself is an important practice and skill we all need to develop, and we’ve put together a few simple reminders to help you get started on your self-care journey.

Do what works for you

Sure, bubble baths and facemasks are great, but if that sounds boring, too girly, and just not for you, that’s okay (but if you are the bubble bath type, we recommend a stop by Metchosin Soap Works). The key to self-care is to do what works for you to help you feel relaxed, refreshed, and energized. Listen to yourself, and your body, and then make the time to do what fuels you and don’t compare your routines to anyone else.

Small acts are just as valuable

Self-care is not a one-and-done act. Try to find small things you can do for yourself on a consistent basis like taking a few minutes to journal every morning, cooking your favourite dinner once a week, or silencing your phone for an hour each evening. As Aesop once said, “No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.” Be kind to yourself, always, and treat yourself to a new notebook to doodle in, a stack of magazines to flip through, or an exciting new read from Coles

Try new things

Never done an Orangetheory Fitness class but always wanted to? Have a new recipe picked out that you’ve never tried? Always wanted a professional manicure? Take a chance and try something new. Not only is it a great way to add some variety to your routines, but it’s a great way to discover new interests, develop new skills, and make new connections and possible friendships.
