Wedding Season Starts Here

We love love. Weddings are not only a good time (race you to the dance floor!) but a beautiful reminder of the love and friendship we share with important people in our lives. We’ve put together a few ideas to help you in celebrating your loved ones as they tie the knot, renew their vows, or simply celebrate one another.

Skip the “stuff” and gift an experience

Gone are the days of giving newlyweds a toaster or nice blender. Unless someone explicitly asks for this kind of gift, skip it and trade the countertop appliances for a unique date night. Plan a fun outing for the happy couple and gift them tickets or a gift card to the experience you picked out. It’s a great way to create memories and a fun opportunity to get creative and send the newlyweds on an adventure. Can’t think of what to plan? Keep it simple and stick with the classics like an elegant dinner and a movie, a couples cooking class, or tickets to a local theatre show. Psst, did we mention we love that there’s almost nothing to wrap with a gift like this and it creates almost no waste? That’s a wedding gift win.

Frame it

Let’s face it: most of us have albums full of photos…on our phones. We take more photos now than ever before, but we rarely print them. Create a unique couples gift and piece of art full of photos. Ask around in your circle of friends or close family and get everyone to submit a photo (or two or three) of the newlyweds and turn it into a one-of-a-kind photo collage. Or, pick your favourite pic of the lovebirds and have it blown up and printed on canvas or etched on glass as a beautiful piece of thoughtful home décor. Swing by Winners / Home Sense or pop in to talk to Urban Art to learn more about photo printing options.

Don’t forget the card

No matter what you decide to gift the happy couple, don’t forget the card (visit Dollarama or Shopper’s Drug Mart to find the perfect one). Stumped for words? Consider writing a piece of advice, an inspirational quote, or even a cute and silly joke along with your well-wishes. Have a stack of cards sitting around at home from your own engagement party or wedding? Turn them into a cool craft project with this easy art tutorial.

Happy celebrating and to everyone getting hitched this summer, we wish you many wonderful years together!
