You’ve probably noticed there’s a chill in the air. Need a recipe and some mixology tips? Keep reading for our favourite cozy drinks for chilly days.

Mulled Wine

Mulled wine is the epitome of a cozy cocktail. Made with red wine, oranges, cloves, cinnamon, and a touch of sweetener like honey or sugar, it’s fragrant, soothing, and perfect for sharing.

How to make it:

  • Heat a bottle of red wine (merlot or zinfandel are ideal) in a pot with orange slices, 4-5 cloves, 2-3 cinnamon sticks, and a couple of tablespoons of sugar or honey.
  • Let the mixture simmer for about 15-20 minutes, but avoid boiling, as this can cook off the alcohol.
  • Serve warm in mugs, and garnish with a cinnamon stick or a slice of fresh orange.
  • Optional: add a splash of brandy or rum to give your mulled wine an extra punch.

Hot Toddy

Feeling under the weather? Try a Hot Toddy. Made with whiskey, honey, lemon, and hot water, it’s soothing in every sip.

How to make it:

  • Mix 2 ounces of your favorite whiskey, 1 tablespoon of honey, and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice in a mug.
  • Top up with hot water and stir well until the honey dissolves.
  • Optional: add a lemon slice or wedge for extra flavor or try swapping the whiskey for rum or brandy to suit your tastebuds.

Spiked Hot Chocolate

Hot chocolate is a winter staple for everyone, but adding spirits or liqueur makes it a delicious grown-up dessert or after dinner treat—perfect for a holiday flick or curling up with a good book.

How to Make It:

  • Prepare your favorite hot chocolate from scratch or using a mix.
  • Add 1.5 ounces of Baileys Irish Cream, spiced rum, or peppermint schnapps, depending on your taste.
  • Optional: top with whipped cream, a sprinkle of cocoa powder, or even a candy cane for a festive touch.

Irish Coffee

Take your average cup of java up a notch with Irish Coffee—perfect to sip in the evening or start a slow weekend morning.

How to make it:

  • Brew a fresh cup of strong coffee and pour into a glass mug
  • Stir in 1.5 ounces of Irish whiskey and a teaspoon of brown sugar until dissolved.
  • Slowly pour lightly whipped cream over the back of a spoon to float it on top.
  • Optional: top with additional whipped cream or add a sugar rim to the glass for a sweet, stylish finishing touch.

Whether you’re gathered with friends or enjoying a quiet moment alone, these drinks are sure to bring warmth and comfort. Grab your favorite mug, cozy up with a blanket, and treat yourself to a delicious seasonal sipper!
