Warm Weather Essentials

The first day of summer was June 21 and as we enter the official sunshine season, we’re getting our warm weather essentials ready.

Start with sunscreen

Even if the mercury doesn’t rise very high, you still need sunscreen to protect your skin. Incorporate sunscreen into your morning routine, look for makeup or other products with an SPF included, and don’t forget a travel size version to keep in your bag or car to reapply on the go. Whether you need a chemical or physical sunscreen, you’ll find just what you need at Shopper’s Drug Mart. Already spent a little too long in the sun? Heal your sunburn with aloe vera and look for a comfy spot in the shade to avoid additional sun exposure.

Swap your sneakers for sandals

Is there anything worse than hot, tried, sore feet? We didn’t think so. Kick off your sneakers and slide into summer footwear. Show off your pedicure and choose from flip flops, slides, or a cute pair of strappy sandals at Boathouse—the perfect complement to any summer outfit. (But we won’t blame you if you’d rather be barefoot).

Put a hat on

Hats are more than a fashion accessory, they’re a summer must. Not only does a hat help keep the sun out of your eyes and off your face, but they protect your scalp from painful sunburns. Dye your hair? You’ll want a hat to help preserve your colour and prevent your color from fading fast, too. Find a range of hat styles to fit any look and any member of the family at Atmosphere or Winners.

Keep a cold beverage close

A cold drink on a hot day is a pairing we all love. Skip the bottled water and keep your own ice-cold beverage close at hand with a reusable tumbler or bottle (find one to match your style at Mark’s or Dollarama). Need a little flavour boost? Freeze your favourite juice blend to make tasty ice cubes you can add to any drink or try adding sliced fruit to your beverage for a refreshing sip.

Whatever your summer has in store, Westshore has you covered so you can have fun in the sun safely, with the whole family.
